Surfer Days and Steamy Nights
Newquay has that laidback feel that goes hand in hand with being England’s undisputed surfing capital. The centre of the action is Fistral Beach whose swells and Cribbar Reef produce some of the largest breakers in the British Isles. The long, sandy beach is backed by tall dunes which give way to Newquay Golf Club.
Great Western Beach lies below sheer cliffs one street from the train station, while Towan Beach by the picturesque harbour is the closest to the town centre. Tolcarne Beach is sheltered in its own bay, as is the wide stretch of sand at Porth Beach whose northern coastline is 2 rocky headlands joined by a narrow footbridge over the sea.
Each beach is overlooked by luxury hotels with spas, cheap hostels and self-catering apartments on Booking.com. All are surrounded by Newquay’s restaurants, bars and clubs which offer the best nightlife this side of Bristol.
More leisurely pursuits include Trerice manor house in the countryside near the Lappa Valley Steam Railway. Buccaneer Bay and the Blue Reef Aquarium are popular with families, as are Waterworld and Newquay Zoo within Trenance Gardens.
Another favoured spot for a walk are the salt marshes by the River Gannel which is a prominent sight as you descend into Newquay Cornwall Airport.

I was only in Newquay for a short time to attend an event at...
I was only in Newquay for a short time to attend an event at the zoo and therefore did not have time to look around the town or visit the beach. My walk to and from the station was through an area of shops, restaurants and bars and while not picturesque was clean and tidy. The beach I viewed from a distance looked sandy and clean.

Newquay for us is a good 5 hour drive away but every year we always come back for a week. We love how dog friendly the area is. The bars and restaurants are amazing around here and I’ve genuinely never been dissatisfied. The staff in all the hotels and bars are super helpful and any special requests you have are always met. If I had the chance I would move to Newquay to live as it’s that nice of a place and the people around here are so friendly. Cove 24, Fort Inn, Secret Garden, 12 Beach Rd and The Boathouse are all 10/10 places to eat. We will forever continue to come back to this little gem of a town.

A lot of places to go with children us crazy golf , zoo , pirate adventure golf. , trampoline park and much more. The best thing about Newquay for me is the magnificent coastline of dramatic cliffs, rock pinnacles and sandy beaches - unsurpassed for a seaside town I have been to in my 75 years. For drivers the town is badly signposted but this is typical throughout Cornwall. I was hoping for more live music events but it seems the last week in April is not the time for these. I thought the Irish Bar next to the Victoria Hotel, frankly, grim. Not much else to say that makes this town much different from countless others in the UK.KennethUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

Being slightly out of the town centre, even though on a busy road, it was probably a quieter location to stay in given some of the lively guests staying in Newquay! Breakfast was excellent, buffet style with choice of full English, cereal, toast, pastries, fruit, juices etc. The dining room is a lovely big old fashioned room with huge windows over looking the sea. The hotel had ample on site parking which in Cornwall is a huge bonus.

In all the years we have travelled to Cornwall this was one of the worst weather wise so again the ability to come back to the apartment and chill out hot bath worked perfectly for us. Guaranteed parking a great bonus as parking in newquay can be challenging at busy times. Would definitely stay here again.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The facilities at the hotel were exceptional and we really enjoyed the spa. We also enjoyed a hot stones massage each from Natasha who was very experienced. The food at the hotel was exquisite, infact we stayed in two of the nights we were there because the restaurant food was so tasty. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends, families and couples. Thank you!
